An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked the rising tourist island, Lombok, on Sunday (29/07) morning. The earthquake killed at least 14 people, including foreign tourists, and caused residents to flee to open fields.
At present, refugees in the location really need a helping hand from all lines and sectors, especially related to the daily needs of refugees. IKA IKA Faculty of Dentistry Airlangga University is one of the first to be called upon to implement it.
Well coordinated through the Coordinator of Earthquake Care Activities – Lombok NTB, Drg. Sidharta (alumni of Airlangga University), IKA Faculty of Dentistry, Airlangga University, managed to donate Rp. 13,575,000, -; which is realized in the form of a mat as a base for the rest of the residents in evacuation.
“In the past 5 years (2013 – 2018) Belanting and Sambelia Districts have been affected three times by natural disasters, 2 times massive flooding disasters and this year the earthquake disaster, for earthquakes, even our own citizens are shocked like this”, said Drg Sidharta .
As a tactical and responsive step, Laksma TNI drg. Nora Lelyana, M.H. Kes, as Chair of the IKA Faculty of Dentistry, Airlangga University in collaboration with FKG Airlangga University united to help Lombok residents of NTB earthquake victims
“When disaster strikes, assistance from anywhere always comes to help, the form of assistance that we provide must be really useful or needed, if it is careless it must be redundant”, said Drg. Nora.
“Therefore, after receiving information from Dr. Sidharta, the results of the donations from these dentistry alumni were realized in the form of mats as a base for resting in tents, I highly appreciate the efforts to cope with this disaster”, said Dr. Darmawan Setijanto, drg., M.Kes, as the Dean of FKG Airlangga University.
Until the time this news was written, earthquake victims still needed help related to daily life, such as blankets, clean water, clothes, and tents to shelter.
