Wednesday, April 17, 2019 became one of the important days in the history of Indonesian democracy. The Indonesian people have been waiting for that day to elect a presidential candidate who will lead the nation for the next 5 years, including students who live in overseas lands. From afar, they took care of A5 so that they could participate in choosing presidential and vice president candidates overseas. BEM Airlangga University also facilitates A5 registration so students do not have to come to the KPU given the lecture schedule is quite dense.
However, not a few voters with A5 (Additional Voters List / DPTb) find it difficult, such as not allowed to vote before 12.00 even though in the official KPU announcement, the DPTb can vote starting at 07.00, but at some polling stations, the DPTb is asked to wait at 12.00 on the pretext Permanent Voter List (DPT) which is preferred to cast their ballots. Not including the TPS number on sheet A5 also becomes a problem. Things like this do not only happen in the city of Surabaya. DPTb in Sleman, Yogyakarta also experienced the same thing. In fact, in some polling stations, the DPTb only gets the remaining ballots. The great public interest in the 2019 elections forced the KPU and its staff to go the extra mile so that similar things would not happen again in the next election of leaders. rca
