ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Children’s oral health problem not only interferes the growth and development but also lowering their quality of life. Pediatric dentistry provides various aspects of holistic care that includes preventive, curative and rehabilitative treatment. The lecture materials are oral growth and development; behavior management of pediatric dental patients; complete diagnosis and treatment planning; promotion of oral health; prevention of dental and oral diseases; oral bad habit management, dental pulp treatment and restorations of primary teeth; preventive orthodontics to prevent malocclusion and tooth extraction in children.

VISION

  • The vision of a Pediatric Dentistry Department is to become an innovative and an internationally recognized  that is capable of mastering, implementing and developing pediatric dentistry science and technology in accordance with IPTEKDOKGI.

MISSION

  • Organizing innovative and dynamic teaching-learning process with the current topics of lectures in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Implementing the latest science transfer with foreign educational institutions (Hiroshima University).
  • Educating, training, and developing clinical skills and critical analytical studies in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Organizing innovative scientific research to support clinical and scientific development of Pediatric Dentistry.

CURRICULLUM

The clinical competences expected from the study are performing complete oral examination and oral diagnosis of pediatric patients followed by the treatment planning; preventing oral and dental diseases; performing dental restorations in primary teeth; prevention of malocclusion; and performing primary teeth extraction based on the theories and methods of standard operating procedures in pediatric dentistry.
