She also explained that the preparation for this accreditation has been started since 2016 on the previous stewardship. Many consultation performed, i.e to Departement of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine that was accredited A by LAMPTkes previously. Equally important was the support from Faculty of Dental Medicine leaders.
This accreditation process begins with trial in, proposed by LAMPTkes in March 2016 by sending 2 representatives. Then proceed with the accreditation registration in November 2017, the revision process lasted about 3 months until finally achieved “A” accreditation accreditation in June. and a field visitation in 2018 by 2 assessors from University of Indonesia and Hasanuddin University on 13-15 May 2018. The effect of this accreditation to FKG UNAIR and specifically to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery itself is able to organize education that is more accountable and has a more complete record, so as to produce graduates in accordance with the standard. It is also hoped that this achievement will not only be maintained, but also enhanced by the achievement of other awards.
Drg. Roberto Simanjuntak, M.S., Sp.BM(K) head of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery staff said that this accreditation has been very appropriate, given the preparation of the department that has been very well-prepared and lasts long enough. “With this accreditation, besides being an award, it is also a trigger for all elements of the department to work better, considering the attention gained after this accreditation,” he added. This accreditation has also become a barometer of the growing interest of registrants of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program, which continues to grow every year, even though it has to go through tough competition and only 5 from many applicants each year are acceptable.
