National Dental Health Month is an annual event joined by all of dental medicine faculty in Indonesia, in collaboration with PT. Unilever Tbk, Indonesian Dentist Association and Indonesian Dentistry Faculty Association. Like in previous years, this year Faculty of Dental Medicine Univesitas Airlangga celebrate National Dental Health Month 2018 by giving free treatment from 7-9 November 2018 at Oral & Dental Hospital Universitas Airlangga. Universitas Airlangga’s theme this year is “Protecting Your Family’s Dental Health from The Risk of Hidden Sugar”.
The opening ceremony at Oral & Dental Hospital Universitas Airlangga attended by Deputy Chancellor 4, Bapak Junaidi Khotib, S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D., Apt, representative from PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk, Ibu Atyka Limiharja, Deputy Director of Medical Services, Prof . Dr. Soegeng Wahlujo, drg., M.Kes., Sp. KGA(K), dean of Faculty of Dental Medicine Universitas Airlangga, Dr. R. Darmawan Setiijanto., drg., M.Kes, lectures and director of Faculty of Dental Medicine Universitas Airlangga, representative from Indonesian Dentist Association batch Surabaya, and representative from fostered community health centers.
As the dean said, this event will serve more than 1000 patients in 3 days. Treatments available are uncomplicated extraction, simple fillings, scalling, simple child dental cases, dental health education and practice of brushing teeth for elementary students. As many as 500 elementary school students from SDN Mulyorejo 1, SDN Manyar Sabrangan 2, SD Kejawan Putih Tambak 1, SD Luqman Alhakim, Muhammadiyah 18 have screened and are ready to receive treatment.
Also present on this opening ceremony were FKG UNAIR Fostered Community Health Centers that have collaborated well to produce promotive and preventive products. They are Mulyorejo Health Center, Keputih Health Center, Kalijudan Health Center, Pucang Sewu Health Center, and Made Health Center. Apart from being a place of practice for field work, there are also some collaborations have done between Faculty of Dental Medicine with these health centers.
In addition, the registration opens from 8.00 until 12.00 at Oral & Dental Hospital Universitas Airlangga. Through this activity, Faculty of Dental Medicine wants to provide dental health treatment for all people, especially residents of Surabaya.
