The research spirit increasingly strong in Faculty of Dental Medicine Airlangga University. Following the receipt of several research grants from several state institutions, Faculty of Dental Medicine Universitas Airlangga reinforced its efforts by opening up cooperation in the field of research.
A good response was given by Faculty of Dentistry, Tohoku University, Japan. Initiation of collaborative research is evidenced by the presence of a team of experts from Tohoku University who provide workshops of several research techniques to all staff of the department of prosthodontics Faculty of Dental Medicine Universitas Airlangga.
In the interview, Head of Department of Prosthodontics, Dr. Nike Hendrijantini, drg., M.Kes., Sp.Pros (K) stated that the Tohoku team, consisting of Prof. Sasaki, Assoc. Prof. Guang Hong and Prof. Shimidzu, gave two workshops namely animal perfusion and Methyl Metacrilat Embeding (MME).
“Both of these techniques have not been done in all faculty of dentistry throughout Indonesia. With the increase in skill then a lot of research can be done “, said Nike.
In a separate interview, Prof. Sasaki also expressed a very high appreciation on Faculty of Dental Medicine Airlangga University due to research activity has been very developed. Professor of prosthodontics who is also dean of Faculty of Dentistry, Tohoku University is seeing a very significant change from the research process in Faculty of Dental Medicine Airlangga University. At the end of the interview, the adjunct professor of FKG UNAIR also said, “My dream is that this collaborative research produces many international journals and this initiation will be a good start in the future”
